In science class we recently did a plasticity lab. In this lab we made goop. It was a very interesting and i learned a lot. the goop we mad was liquid but after you put it into your hand it turned solid. The goop made of everyday materials did not stay solid. After a while it turned back to liquid. this was one of the best experiments we have ever done.

October Sky

The movie october sky is based on the true story of homer hickam. a young man who longed to see life outside his little town off Coalwood, West Viginia. Sputnik gave him a way out. The russian rocket was launched october 4 of the year 1957. In virginia they saw it in the october sky. everyone else saw it as another light but Homer didn't. Russia had launched a satelite he decided why don't i build my own. So he did he had the help of of a few friends. in the moviw there were 3 in real life there were 6. they were called the rocket boys. They were Homer "Sonny" Hickam, Quentin Wilson, Roy Lee Cook, O'dell Carrol, Sherman Siers and Billy Rose. these were the six boys who against all odds created rockets and succeded. They exercised a characteristic trait called caring. For even though Quentin Wilson was a nerdy little kid with no social life or social background what so ever they worked with him. He was appreciated by them even though every one else didn' like him and couldn't believe they were doing this.even though they did it and it benefited mankind. Homer hickam went on and became a rocket scientist for NASA. Now he is a retired rocket scientis livibg a very prosperous life.

Sickle cell anemia
The disease is sickle cell anemia and this is what i found out. First this is a birth defect meaning you have it when you are born. The blood in is formed like a sickle meaning a c. It is a disease found more often than not in African Americans and hispanics. The moleccular acctivity is that the genes are mutataed by amino acid. It was found in the year 1910. symptoms are
shortness of breath, dizziness,Headache ,Coldness in the hands and feet, Pale skin and
Chest pain. It is not a lifelong disease it can be cured by a bone marrow transplant. In total sickle cell anemia is a very lethal disease for sickle cells do not last very long.This article was very informational and it helped me understand what this disease is about, furthering my knowledge on geneticaly mutated diseases

KLINEFELTER DISEASE

Imagine one day going to the doctors and being diagnosed with Klinefelter disease. What thoughts are racing through your mind? Does your heart skip a beat ? What can i do to cure this disease. Well first you would need to know the facts. This is only found in males, it is a disease that is testosterone related disease. The possible symptoms are enlarged male breasts, male infertility, speech difficulty, sparse body hair, inability to produce sperm and sparse body hair. The molecular activity is found that males with this disease have an extra chromosome. They have genotype (xxy) instead of just genotype(xy). The only cure is testosterone therapy. This is when they find a way to transfer sperm into the male. Fortunately only one in every fifty thousand get this disease, so chances of someone getting this disease are very slim. We have deveoped a cure and to develop more we need to further our understanding of the human body. The disease is not very lethal but it can be a very annoying disease.

class response

during one of our science classes we were extracting DNA from our mouths and a strawberry. it was very interesting and explained itself. in this project a partner takes some gatorade and gurgles it for a minute. they then pour it into a test tube add rubbing alcohol and flips it three or four times. they then set it down for a good fifteen minutes. meanwhile your other partner has a strawberry sample. thaey mix it with a few ingredients and wait for fifteen minutes. after the fifteen minutes are over we looked at our sample and we looked at our samples and saw variations. In my sample it was very clear and you could see tiny strands of DNA floating around. in my partners plant sample it was all a liquid and the DNA was huge. some other peoples where covered in different colors and thatis why we brush our teeth.
