In science class we recently did a plasticity lab. In this lab we made goop. It was a very interesting and i learned a lot. the goop we mad was liquid but after you put it into your hand it turned solid. The goop made of everyday materials did not stay solid. After a while it turned back to liquid. this was one of the best experiments we have ever done.

October Sky

The movie october sky is based on the true story of homer hickam. a young man who longed to see life outside his little town off Coalwood, West Viginia. Sputnik gave him a way out. The russian rocket was launched october 4 of the year 1957. In virginia they saw it in the october sky. everyone else saw it as another light but Homer didn't. Russia had launched a satelite he decided why don't i build my own. So he did he had the help of of a few friends. in the moviw there were 3 in real life there were 6. they were called the rocket boys. They were Homer "Sonny" Hickam, Quentin Wilson, Roy Lee Cook, O'dell Carrol, Sherman Siers and Billy Rose. these were the six boys who against all odds created rockets and succeded. They exercised a characteristic trait called caring. For even though Quentin Wilson was a nerdy little kid with no social life or social background what so ever they worked with him. He was appreciated by them even though every one else didn' like him and couldn't believe they were doing this.even though they did it and it benefited mankind. Homer hickam went on and became a rocket scientist for NASA. Now he is a retired rocket scientis livibg a very prosperous life.

Sickle cell anemia
The disease is sickle cell anemia and this is what i found out. First this is a birth defect meaning you have it when you are born. The blood in is formed like a sickle meaning a c. It is a disease found more often than not in African Americans and hispanics. The moleccular acctivity is that the genes are mutataed by amino acid. It was found in the year 1910. symptoms are
shortness of breath, dizziness,Headache ,Coldness in the hands and feet, Pale skin and
Chest pain. It is not a lifelong disease it can be cured by a bone marrow transplant. In total sickle cell anemia is a very lethal disease for sickle cells do not last very long. This article was very informational and it helped me understand what this disease is about, furthering my knowledge on geneticaly mutated diseases

KLINEFELTER DISEASE

Imagine one day going to the doctors and being diagnosed with Klinefelter disease. What thoughts are racing through your mind? Does your heart skip a beat ? What can i do to cure this disease. Well first you would need to know the facts. This is only found in males, it is a disease that is testosterone related disease. The possible symptoms are enlarged male breasts, male infertility, speech difficulty, sparse body hair, inability to produce sperm and sparse body hair. The molecular activity is found that males with this disease have an extra chromosome. They have genotype (xxy) instead of just genotype(xy). The only cure is testosterone therapy. This is when they find a way to transfer sperm into the male. Fortunately only one in every fifty thousand get this disease, so chances of someone getting this disease are very slim. We have deveoped a cure and to develop more we need to further our understanding of the human body. The disease is not very lethal but it can be a very annoying disease.

class response

during one of our science classes we were extracting DNA from our mouths and a strawberry. it was very interesting and explained itself. in this project a partner takes some gatorade and gurgles it for a minute. they then pour it into a test tube add rubbing alcohol and flips it three or four times. they then set it down for a good fifteen minutes. meanwhile your other partner has a strawberry sample. thaey mix it with a few ingredients and wait for fifteen minutes. after the fifteen minutes are over we looked at our sample and we looked at our samples and saw variations. In my sample it was very clear and you could see tiny strands of DNA floating around. in my partners plant sample it was all a liquid and the DNA was huge. some other peoples where covered in different colors and thatis why we brush our teeth.

Recession

In the united kingdoms the economy has provoked numerous worker strikes. these strikes were provoked in many different ways. one of these ways was because foreign workers were getting jobs and the britishcould not get jobs. workers from countries like china or liberia were given jobs, while the british were being laid of. this infuriated the workers. that provoked the strike. Another reason was because of the deals. The employers of the protestors gave the people a deal. unfortunatley the people turned them down till all got their jobs back. some people were so annoyed they had signs that said british jobs for british people.

Class response: Ultraviolet Rays

Recently in science class we learnt about rays and reasearched them this is my reasearch on Ultraviolet Rays.
Sources of Ultraviolet Rays
The sources of ultra violet rays are the sun, Flourescence/Flourophore and ionizing radiation. The sun has powerful rays that seep in through the ozone layer through patches of areas that are not covered. There is a test called woods lamp where you are in a dark room and they shine an ultraviolet light to anywhere you want. This shows you the light in your skin that can not be seen by the human eye.
What is this used for?
Ultra violet Rays are used for many interesting experiences. First Food preservation. The Food is passed through a machine that produces ultra violet Light. The light Kills all the micro organisms there fore making the food Germ free. Second they use the rays in Fly Trappers. Since flies are attracted to this light they go towards it and once they get to the light ZAP. The fly is killed. This is very useful in Kitchens and on camping trips.
DID YOU KNOW
_did you Know quartz crystals reflect a tiny spectrum of Ultraviolet Rays?
_Did you know a black light or UV Light is a lamp that emits electromagnetic radiation.

Flying Cars second edition

a new energy efficient flying car has just been invented. it was created in boston. this car has been made with many functions. first the plane function. this "roadable plane" can fly 500 miles straight on one gallon of gas, this invention uses unleaded fuel. you can fly of the runway and land in another in your own car. you just unfold the wings for take off and after landing you fold them. This is now among the other few flying car projects. a car that flies, who could have imagined it. almost like the Tv series The Jetsosns their car flies. Since the first Boeing 747 flight flying cars have been questioned. the possibility was very narrow until two bright "bostonians" came up with this new invention. this could be a leap forward for mankind. In the words of Neil Armstong "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind"

Inauguration

As president Barrack Obama walked onto the podium to take the oath the crowd went wild. He looked at the millions of people then he swore an Oath on the same bible as Abraham Lincoln used when he was sworn in. Now our first African American president Barrack Obama has taken the white house by a storm. On his list on Tuesday the 20th 2009 he had a quiet breakfast with family. Followed by his swearing in and inaugural address. He then watched the parade through a bullet proof glass window. After that he and first lady Michelle Obama went to all 10 inaugural balls in Washington D.C. The music varied from slow dancing or hip hop. The president danced to all of them.
Barrack Obama walked down the blue carpet on the east steps of the capitol building about to become the 44th president people were filled with ecstasy. He took the podium and said “ I Barrack Hussein Obama do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." These were the historic words he said on the start of a great day. He then walked down Penn Ave spiting what the secret service and the government had told him to do, he walk to the white house. At one of the morning prayers that Obama undertook he learned that “In the time of crisis, good men must stand up.” I guess he was that good Man. This article tells us about the Jam packed day our new commander and chief had. That he would spite the C.I.A and walked down Penn Ave just so that he could see his supporters. This shows we are in for a long run With Barrack Obama.
Out of the 10 inaugural balls everyone said the best one was the one in the Neighborhood. Barrack and Michelle danced to a slow song together. Every one was saying that Michelle’s dress was drop dead gorgeous. She was described as “the ravishing first lady” President Obama was called “ the dapper president Obama.” Barrack and Michelle danced the night away making appearances at 10 different Balls. It was a hectic Night but they went to all ten and split time between them all. What this article is about is the Obama families perfect end to a day. The commander in chief and the first lady dancing was a sight most people will never forget.
I think that this was a very historical day. It was a wake up call for America. It is telling us to relive the american dream. Being at the inauguration the way people shouted and screamed for Obama was amazing. His speech was very captivating and it captured everything he is about. He then told us this “Let it be said by our children's children that when we were tested, we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back, nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God's grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations.” these words spoke to me and said that hey if he can do why can’t you.
